Applications for the 2013 Masters Awards are now closed. We received a very large number of applications for the 380 Masters Awards available for 2013. Applications are now being assessed and applicants will be notified of the status of their application in April 2012. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend a selection interview to be held between 14 May and 8 June 2012 in one of the three interview centres: Accra, Ghana; Nairobi, Kenya; Pretoria, South Africa.
Desired Applicant Profile and General Information for Applicants (2013 intake)
Eligible Sectors: Applications may come from applicants employed in the Public Sector; the Private Sector and non-government organisations (Civil Society).
Priority Fields for Cape Verde are:
- Agriculture/Food Security (including Fisheries)
- Public Policy (Including Public Financial Management & Public sector Reform)
- Curriculum Development on Education
- Engineering (Civil and computing)
- Natural Resource Management
- Health (Including Maternal & Child Health)
- Water & Sanitation
The AAA targets certain types of applicant. Applicants that meet the following criteria will be considered:
- You are a national of Cape Verde.
- You are an early or mid-career professional working in the Public Sector, the Private Sector or non-government organisation (Civil Society) in one of the listed priority fields of study.
- You must not be more than 50 years of age at the date of your application.
- You must have at least three (3) years' post-graduation work experience. This work experience must be in a role relevant to your proposed field of study and to your employment organisation type (e.g. public sector applicants should demonstrate public sector work experience, and so on). Preference will be given to candidates with greater periods of experience.
- You possess, as a minimum, a Licenciatura or an International Bachelors Degree (or the equivalent) with a minimum score of at least a Second Class Lower Division (a 2:2) or the equivalent.
- You wish to undertake a Masters degree in Australia in one of the listed priority fields of study.
- You have a clear vision for how you will use the knowledge gained through the Masters degree to improve policy, practice or education in the proposed field of study.
- Please supply evidence of English proficiency. The AAA has a minimum English proficiency requirement equivalent to an overall IELTS score of 5.0 with no individual band score lower than 4.5. TOEFL results are also accepted.

NOTE:
- Please note that you should apply for only ONE type of award per year. For example, if you have applied for a short-course award, you should NOT apply for a Masters award.
- Application details from public sector applicants will be shared with the respective Government.
- Public sector applicants must ensure they have adhered to all relevant Government rules and guidelines concerning applications for scholarships. Public sector applicants that are not supported by Government or that have not adhered to the correct processes may be considered non-compliant and not considered further.
