Selection Process for ADS

In February of each year, AusAID will advise each country and/or partner organisation of the number of scholarships available for study in Australia the following year.

In March and April of each year the nominating authorities for the public categories will notify the various government departments to nominate candidates for ADS. In the open category countries advertisements will be placed in the various media, calling for Expressions of Interest.

Selections take place between May and July of each year and will include interviews with the short-listed candidates. Where IELTS tests are required, candidates will be informed in writing of the date for the test.

Once the lists for priority and reserve candidates have been finalized, each awardee will receive a status letter and three identical application forms to be filled in and returned to GRM not later than the advised deadline date. The status letter will contain requirements that must be met by the awardee. These include:

  • Three identical individually completed application forms;
  • A passport size photograph should be attached to each of the three identical individually completed application forms;
  • Submission of requested supporting documentation;
  • Application for an appropriate Australian visa; and
  • A successful medical examination, including an HIV/AIDS test, from a program accredited doctor.

For more information on the visas, application forms and the medical examinations, please visit the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) at the following website:  www.immi.gov.au

To secure placement at an institution in Australia , GRM will, on behalf of applicants, approach the applicants’ preferred institution in order to secure a place. The institution will then provide to GRM an offer of placement which forms the basis for the final awarding of a scholarship. Scholarships will not be awarded until the contract accompanying the letter of offer has been signed by the candidate and received back by GRM.
